Sharp British quarter-plate ambrotype of a stately military man in uniform.  He is posed semi-profile in a commanding, self-assured manner while holding his white dress gloves in hand.  His hat, with the lion and crown emblem, is sitting on the table next to him.  He seems contemplative and is possibly reflecting on a long and distinguished career.  This image is in outstanding condition and very detailed.  You would be hard pressed to find a better ambrotype that exhibits this caliber of quality in tones and contrast.  It is housed in a full leather case.
